Competency Standard  : Communicating in English on Novice Level

Basic Competency        : 1.7 Understanding words and foreign’ terminology and sentences based on formula.

                                       

Indicators                      : Expression to ask and give direction and location used correctly

I.                   The Objective of learning

·           Students are able to express ask  and give direction  and location correctly.

II.    Learning Materials

1.      Describing location by using There is……/There are……..

Example: - There is a television in the living room (affirmative)

-  There is not a television in the living room (Negative)

-  Is there television in the living room?(interrogative)

Yes, there is

No, there is not

2.      The use of Preposition for location and positions/Preposition of place ( at, in, beside, in front of, under, above, below, inside, outside, near, next to, behind, on the left, on the right, opposite). Example (see the example number 1)

IV. Learning activities

·      Pre teaching : (15 minutes)

-    Brainstorming :

1.      Students answer the question which given by the teacher related to the materials/topic

2.      Give the key words and come in to the topic or objective of  learning.

3.      Students receive the moral value related to the topic

·    Main activity : (60 Minutes)

-       Students see the picture from the slide show which shown by the teacher

-       Students sit in small group 2 or 3 people each group to analyze the picture and write a sentence by using preposition.

-       One of student member read the result of their discussion.

-       Students’ results of their discussion are commented by the teacher

-       Students’ attention to the materials based on the main objective of study.

-       Students demonstrate something based on the scenario

-       Students practice exercise

-       Students checked their understanding by the teacher and got feedback from the teacher.

-       Students got chance to continue their exercise

-       Students discuss the result of exercise

·    Post Activity: (15 Minutes)

-      Students give the conclusion of the topic guided by the teacher.

-      Students ask  some questions about the lesson given

-      Students got the feedback from the teacher

-          The teacher  also will analyze students’ answer how  they use Preposition for location and positions/preposition of place ( at, in, beside, in front of, under, above, below, inside, outside, near, next to, behind, on the left, on the right, opposite)
