Asalamu alaikum wr. Wb, syalom, om swastiastu Thank you very much for this opportunity. The honorable juries, distinguished guests, teachers, and beloved my friends. Let me bring a speech entitled "EDUCATION OF CHARACTER IS VERY IMPORTANT FOR THE YOUNG GENERATION ESPECIALLY FOR STUDENTS”. Ladies and gentlemen I want to start with what is character? Character is moral value of the people. Nur silay stated on her article sated that Character is who we are actually and who we turn into, either someone good or bad. Normally, character is made up of the whole of personal values that are connected and that guide our actions. However, these values are not an easily measured fixed entirety and cannot be changed. Ladies and gentlemen what is character education? Character education is not simply about acquiring social abilities either; it is basically on what kind of a person a student grows up (Arthur, 2003). Character education is not the same phenomenon as behaviour control, discipline, bringing up, and infusing ideas; it is much broader and it has more assertive aims. Good character and good behaviour are alike, yet good character is wider in terms of range. Character is a term which is inclusive of every aspect of an individual as a whole. This is why for many character educators; character education is about much more than a person’s transformation and shaping up. It includes the education within families and schools through an individual’s participation in social networks. Ladies and Gentlemen. What are the characters traits to be possessed by every young generation or students? Some characters are honestly, sincere, compassion, discipline, confidence, never give up, fair, positive thinking, love of peace, responsibility, cooperation, etc.. Then, Why character education is very important? Because, If only given education without care about students’ character, it can be sure the ill effects very easily be embedded in the person of a student. Like affray between students, lazy, cheating, etc. These habits will be The biggest effect for the future. For example: corruption, robbery like what we watch on television everyday. It is very danger for social life. Ladies and Gentlemen . Characters can not be inherited, purchased, and changed. The characters be aware of day after day, through the process is not instant or through a process of self-education and habituation. Character is not innate that can not be changed such as fingerprint. We know that we all have the added value that will protect everything valuable in life. We have full control over the character of our character. That is, we can not blame others for their bad character. Because, we who take full responsibility for it. Ladies and Gentlemen. Education characters is very important for young generation especially we as students so, let us build our characters for peace and our life in this earth. .I think that’s all my speech today.
